Are You Spreading Yourself Too Thin?

Date January 10, 2008

Welcome to BloggingNotes. You may want to subscribe to my full text RSS feed. This message will only appear once. Thanks for visiting!

This is something that I’ve wondered for the last little while, particularly while reading Court and Vic’s feeds.  They both have some of the best blogging tips I’ve come across, but they mention having a number of different niche sites that they set up and run.  While I’m looking at getting into creating a few niche sites of my own in order to generate some income (if you hadn’t noticed, I’ve pulled the ads from BloggingNotes), but I’m just wondering if I’ll have the time to dedicate to finding content for a number of different blogs.

I know that if you want to make money on the web that you’ve got to be dedicated to working on it whenever you can, but I’m just wondering how others who blog for bucks manage to generate content for all of the sites that they own.

I’d appreciate any feedback from those who are able to do it.

Read those blogs again and take notes this time. :-)

I’m thinking of starting some niche blogs purely for monetization purposes and the first thing I picked up on is that they don’t require regular updates like my personal blog. If updates are few and far between, keeping a lot of them up-to-date isn’t a question anymore.

It is all about a system and automation. Niche blogs are not like our normal blogs like BU or Court it is just a different game.

    @Frank: A very good point.

@RT: Heh. I usually DO take notes :) I registered my 2nd niche blog today and will be getting it set up over the weekend, but I do intend on it being a regular posting job (unlike my other niche sites)

@Vic: Yeah, once it becomes a rhythm it probably becomes fairly easy.

    It’s a good question Rod.

Niche sites tend to take a bit of time setting up - optimizing the site and posts but once done you can maintain them with very little effort compared to a site built for readers.

Don’t forget that you can buy articles from freelancers and spin PLR articles in order to create content. It is not uncommon for scraped content to be spun as well - it all depends on the niche.

You will find that monetizing the sites take up more of your time than finding content. Lot’s of experimenting in order to maximize your traffic conversions.

    Hi Rod,

I expanded my idea out into a article called “How to Create ‘Fast Food’ Articles”. Don’t read it if you’re hungry though.

I think that’s an individual thing. Some people are willing to work 24/7 to get what they want, and others just talk about it and make no money.

Niche blogs if done correctly shouldn’t take up too much time anyways.

@Grizz: Yeah, the niche sites that I’m working on the moment are coming together rather slowly, but it’s more of a time thing than anything else.

I’ll keep in mind the info on purchasing articles, though. It may come in handy in the future.

Oh, great, Frank. Now I’m going to HAVE to read it… :)
