Blogging Goals for 2008
December 19, 2007
Welcome to BloggingNotes. You may want to subscribe to my full text RSS feed. This message will only appear once. Thanks for visiting!
Daniel at Daily Blogging Tips would like to know what your blogging goals are for the coming year.
I’ve written a few times what goals I have for this blog, but wanted to put some time deadlines on the things I’d like to see happen around here.
RSS Subscribers: I’m not quite there yet, but I would like to see 50 subscribers by the end of 2007 (yeah, I know, they’re supposed to be for 2008, but I’d like to end the year off with one). Then 100 by the end of January, 500 by the end of June, and 1000 by the end of 2008.
Comments: Right now there are roughly 225 comments on the site. I’d like to have 1000 comments by the end of June. Based on the number of comments that I’ve seen in such a short time I think that this one is going to be very attainable.
PageRank: I’m pretty confident that the next round of Google updates will put BloggingNotes’ PageRank at 4. While my personal site was previously ranked as high as 5, I’d like to get this site higher than any site I’ve written for. So my goal for December 31, 2008, is to have a PageRank of 6 for BloggingNotes. That’s going to take some work.
Monetization: The hardest goal to set of all, for me, anyway. I’m in a bit of a unique situation as opposed to some bloggers who have to try to monetize to help cover their hosting costs. I’m very lucky that my employer is willing to host the site for myself and a few others for free. It’s going to take some consulting with an expert or two on monetization, but if I could make $500 by the end of 2008, I’d consider that a success. Not that I’d turn down more, mind you
That’s pretty much it for me. I don’t want to set a huge number of goals and then come up short on most of them. I also wanted to make sure that they were realistic in my eyes. All of the above goals achieved would make 2008 a very successful blogging year for me.
What are your goals for 2008?

Good luck to you Rod. I think I will post up my 2008 goals here in a few hours. With the way your blogging so far your shouldn’t have too much of an issue reaching any of these goals.
What is your RSS count to-date?

Thanks, Brian. I don’t think any of the goals are completely unrealistic, although the 1000 subscribers is going to be a challenge. Right now I’m at about 30 subscribers.

With a bit of work, I think this is entirely attainable. In fact you’ve just made my plan for 2008 for me
I’m hovering around the 36-40 mark for rss subs and have 148 comments, so you have a head start on the comments.
See you this time next year
