Yesterday Problogger ran a (guest) post written by J.D. Roth of Get Rich Slowly, mentioning that he’d seen a 20% increase in readership while he’d taken a 3-week vacation last summer.I’ve never taken on guest bloggers until now, so had never really thought about planning out a blogging vacation, regardless of the reason for it. But now that I’m working on keeping BN growing, it’s something that I may need to look at doing.
One thing that J.D. mentioned was planning a couple of months in advance, allowing your guest posters time to write the articles, and yourself time to edit and format them for your blog. And then find a time to fit them in so that you don’t have four or five posts going live at the same time.
Handling guest posts was admittedly not something that I’d spent a lot of time dealing with, but if you’re taking on guest bloggers for the first time, this would be an article certainly worth reading. Chances are there will be something that you hadn’t thought of.
