Paying Attention to Keywords is One of the Best Blogging Tips You’ll Get

Before I started BN, I admittedly didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to SEO, figuring that if I was just able to publish quality content that the traffic would eventually find me.  Besides, Google already crawled my site, so I figured that was enough.

But numerous posts by Grizzly, including What’s In A Keyword? made me realize that I needed to focus a little more on what people use to find my site.  So I picked a term of "best blogging tips" and decided to see what I could do to get to the top of Google for that term.

And even with not a whole lot of use of the term, maybe every third post or so, BloggingNotes now is the number two link for the term.  I’m sold. 

Now, in addition to "best blogging tips" I’m going to be working on a few other terms that I’m hoping to draw traffic in, and I’m going to try and do it the way that Griz has mentioned in the past - he uses his terms almost throughout his posts, but in a way that they appear to be a natural part of the post.  It doesn’t look like he’s trying to drop keywords in just for the purpose of having them in there. 

And that’s the way that I intend to do it as well.  Announcing keyword terms isn’t something that I’m going to do, because it’ll make readers look for those terms in each post.  That’s not the way I want to do it.  It’ll be a much more natural thing, blending terms into the posts so that they’re more reader friendly, than Google friendly. 

Because while you might need Google, readers are far more important.
