Your Blog’s Goals Determine Who’s Blog You Should Read

Welcome to BloggingNotes. You may want to subscribe to my full text RSS feed. This message will only appear once. Thanks for visiting!

What you’re trying to accomplish with your blog can determine what other blogs you should read to get the best blogging tips on how to reach your goal. Based on what seem to be somewhat consistent goals, I’m going to offer up my opinions on some blogs that you might want to be looking at if you aren’t already. I’m expecting that there’ll be a few comments from people who disagree with my suggestions, and that’s cool too.

First up, and what seems to be the most common, is the “Make Money Online” blog. There is no shortage of blogs where the primary goal appears to be little more than making money, no matter how it’s done, and those aren’t the ones that I’m interested in adding to my feed reader. But one that stands out has to be John Chow dot Com. One thing that I’ve always appreciated about John’s blog is that he’s not the kind of person who’ll tell you that if you follow his advice that next month you’ll be making as much money as he does (he’s most likely going to break the $25,000 mark in November). But there’s no shortage of ideas for ways to make money from blogging if that’s what you’re in to.

Next up is the class of blogs that I’d like to think that BloggingNotes belongs to - becoming a better blogger. While I’ve been blogging for a fair while now (almost 4 years) on different blogs, I still don’t claim to be any sort of a guru when it comes to monetization, etc. but I’ve spent those years learning what sort of things work, and what things don’t. And if I don’t know, I most likely subscribe to a blog where I can get the information. Which is partially what I want to do with this this site - point readers to the best information to help them. And one of the best blogs with information on developing your blogging skills is Daniel’s Daily Blog Tips. It’s a rare day when I don’t find something good in the feed for DBT.

And if you’re looking to get rid of your 9-5 job, and work as a blogger, or if you’re looking for an excellent example of personal branding, look no further than Darren’s Problogger.net site. Darren also has a habit of bringing in some excellent guest bloggers, which I even posted about over on rodtempleton.net about 10 months ago.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m sure that readers will have differing opinions on some or all of the site that I mentioned above, and if that’s the case, I’d sure like to hear who you’d recommend.
